Dear Mr Reardon,
Last week our teacher, Mrs Henderson, went to Cornwall and met you at a harbour market in Porthleven. She bought us a book that you wrote and illustrated and gave it to us when she got back to Australia. She read it to us and guess what? She also brought us some Cornish fudge to nibble on while she read the story to us. Yummy!
It is funny to think that while we are at school writing to you, you are probably fast asleep because you are on the other side of the world.
We thought your book – The Bears of Porthors- Alfie finds Treasure was interesting.
We liked the characters and thought their adventure was exciting. We liked the part where everyone was at home that helped to rescue the bears. The twist at the end was surprising when the treasure box was opened and the Muscat was revealed. We had been curious about what was in the treasure box! Although the bears were disappointed about there not being jewels in the treasure box it was still a good surprise.
We also liked the illustrations and Mrs Henderson told us that you used photographs to make the pictures. We thought it looked very artistic. We liked that the bears were responsible and gave the Muscat to the museum for everyone to enjoy.
It was an exciting book and we really enjoyed it.
Thank you from all the children in 1/2H classroom and Mrs Henderson
